Writing Well

Do you think you are good at writing?
Are you happy with your writing ability?


The ability to write well is very important to all of us. We are not born with the ability to write well. Good writing is the result of frequent practice and hard work. Writing is a complex task. We have to learn to write well. You can improve your writing if you're willing to work hard. Writing frequently will make you a better writer.

We need to build our writing skills gradually and systematically. We will do just that using this blog.

We will start our writing practice by doing the following exercises.

Exercise 1: Unscramble sentences
Unscramble these words to make good sentences. Don't forget to put a capital letter at the beginning and a period (full stop) at the end of each sentence.

Example:
like i mangoes eat.
I like to eat mangoes.

Exercise 2: Text reconstruction
The words in the sentences below are joined together. Separate the words to make proper sentences. Separate the sentences to make a paragraph.

Example:
Iliketoeatmangoes.Ilikemangoesbecausetheyaresweetandjuicy.
I like to eat mangoes. I like mangoes because they are sweet and juicy.

All About Me

MynameisMiyuki.IwasbornonFebruary19,1992andIamthirteenyearsold.IamJapaneseandIhavebeeninGermanysinceAugust2002.Iamingrade7.Ihaveanolderbrother;hisnameisKoji.Heis15yearsoldandisingrade9.

Exercise 3: Write full sentence answers to these questions.

Example:
What is your name?
My name is Syaharom Abdullah.

  3. Where do you live?
  4. How old are you?
  5. What do you look like?
  6. Have you got any brothers or sisters?
  7. What are you studying?
  8. What is your teacher's name?
  9. What are your hobbies?
  10. What is your favourite food?

Exercise 4:
Write a paragraph (10-12 sentences) about yourself using the sentences you made in exercise 3.
You need to arrange the sentences to make a logical paragraph.
You may add more sentences to the paragraph.
