POST 3

Writing Well

We need to write well to communicate effectively. You can improve your writing if you're willing to work hard. Good writing is the result of frequent practice and hard work. Writing frequently will make you a better writer.

We need to build our writing skills step by step and systematically. We will do that using this blog.

You have started to develop your writing ability. Today, you will do more exercises to further improve your writing skill.

Exercise 1: Unscramble sentences to make questions

Rearrange these words to make good questions.
Begin each question with a capital letter and end each one with a question mark.

Example:

Exercise 2 Irrelevant words

Read the following text carefully.
Delete any word that is not necessary in the sentences. The first sentence has been done for you.
 
 
JOHN'S SUMMER HOLIDAY
 
John lives in the London. He goes to France every a year with his family. They stay in a big the hotel by the sea. John want goes to the beach every day with his friends. They he play on the sand and he go fishing. When the weather is to hot he swims in the sea. In the evenings he goes into town and does plays golf with his father. He likes the France and wants to go to there again next year.

Exercise 3 Filling in the missing word

In each of the following sentences there is a missing word. Decide what it is and write it in. In some sentences more than one answer is possible.

Exercise 4 Text reconstruction

The words in the sentences and the sentences in the paragraph below are all joined together. Put spaces in the right places to separate the words and the sentences. You need to put a full stop (period) at the end of each sentence. The first sentence has been done for you.
